<span style="font-family: Arial"><h2 style="text-align: center"><font size="6"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Assistant Director - Asian American Cultural Center</span></font></h2><h3 style="text-align: center"><font size="5"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Student Success, Inclusion & Belonging</span></font></h3><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma"><br><h4>Job Summary</h4>Provide leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of education programs, services and activities for the Asian American Cultural Center that educate and promote a campus-wide understanding of Asian/Asian American cultures and that enhance Asian American and Asian international students' experiences.<h4><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Duties & Responsibilities</span></font></h4><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Cultural Programming <br> • Develop and promote educationally transformative programs that result in cultural awareness, enhance the Illinois Experience, and build appreciation for Asian/Asian American students and diversity in local and global contexts. <br> • Develop programs and events that highlight cultures around the world. Develop programs and events that support Asian/Asian American students’ experiences. <br> • Collaborate with other units and campus-community partners to develop programs that encompass various intersecting identities (e.g., nationality, immigration, faith, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability status, multiracial experiences). <br></span></font></p><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Capacity-Building and Outreach <br> • Collaborate with other units, academic departments, and student organizations on programming, advising, leadership, and global perspectives development of all students.<br> • Serve on campus-wide committees, task forces, and work groups on campus and in the broader Urbana-Champaign community to enhance Asian/Asian American students’ experience on campus.<br></span></font></p><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Marketing and communications<br> • Coordinate marketing and communication (eg, social media, electronic newsletter, website, calendars, tours, resource fairs).<br></span></font></p><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Supervision <br> • Coordinate the recruitment and supervision of student volunteers.<br> • Provide professional learning experiences that enable volunteers to develop the personal and professional skills needed to thrive in a diverse society.<br> • Assist in the supervision of student staff.</span></font></p><br><h4>Additional Physical Demands</h4>Office position that includes evening and weekend work hours, and some travel is occasionally required.<h4><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Minimum Qualifications</span></font></h4><p><span style="font-family: Tahoma"><font size="3"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Education:</span></font></span></p><ul><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Bachelor’s degree. </span></font></li></ul><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Experience:</span></span></font></p><ul><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">A total of two (2) years (24 months) in education, training and/or work experience in education administration, educational programming, or student advising. </span></font><ul><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">(Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)</span></font></li></ul></li><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Demonstrated experience with programs focused on Asian/Asian American students' experiences. <br><br></span></font></li></ul><h4><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma"> Preferred Qualifications</span></font></h4><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Education:</span></span></font></p><ul><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling, or related field.<br></span></font></li></ul><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma"><span style="text-decoration: underline">Experience:</span></span></font></p><ul><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Professional experience advising and creating leadership development opportunities for students and/or student organizations. </span></font></li><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Ability to demonstrate empathy, problem solving, professional boundaries, and conflict resolution skills. </span></font></li><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Experience in curriculum development. <br></span></font></li></ul><h4><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</span></font></h4><ul><li><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Customer service skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.</span></font></li></ul></span></font><h4><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">Appointment Information</span></font></h4><p><font size="3"><span style="font-family: Tahoma">This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/4/2026.
